COMPANY HISTORY
About Us
Rogue Jet Boatworks founder Bruce C. Wassom has been building, designing, and testing all-welded aluminum boats for more than 35 years. After founding Jetcraft in 1993, Bruce sold that company and went on to build Rogue Jet around the markets we serve today.
Captivated by the outdoors and by river systems, Bruce has dedicated his life to building boats that last a lifetime. He has navigated six uncharted river systems in the Himalayas, run rivers in Patagonia, and trained customers to do the same around the world. That experience has guided our product development from the start.
From day one, Rogue Jet has been built on Bruce’s principles of Quality, Honesty, and Integrity. Those principles haven’t changed.
A New Generation at the Helm
In September 2025, brothers Ryan and Tavis Green purchased Rogue Jet Boatworks from Bruce. For the two of them, it felt like coming home.
Their dad, Cris Green, spent 40 years selling metal, mostly aluminum, across the Pacific Northwest. In that time, most of the boat shops in our region got their start, and Cris got to know the owners and builders behind them. He’d come home with their stories. Sometimes Ryan and Tavis rode along on his sales trips and got to follow him into the shops for a look around. Those visits set the stage for everything that came next.
Tavis went on to spend nearly 20 years in the aluminum boat industry. Over time, he grew frustrated watching boats built to standards that weren’t his own, and as an employee, there was only so much he could change. When he talked with Ryan about starting his own boat company, Ryan suggested a different path: ask Bruce if he’d ever consider selling. With nothing to lose, Tavis asked. Bruce said yes, and Tavis kept working in the shop the entire time the deal came together.
Who Does What
Like any small business owners, Ryan and Tavis wear a lot of hats. Tavis oversees the fabrication shop, where every hull is built. Ryan runs the office and leads our government sales.
And Bruce? He’s still here. Bruce handles most of our sales calls and holds the title of Chief Storyteller. After a lifetime on the water, he has plenty of stories, and they’re worth hearing. It’s one of the ways the torch gets passed.
What Hasn’t Changed
We still build the same proven hulls, with careful refinements here and there to improve design and usability. Our rigging crew averages more than a decade with Rogue Jet. And the shop still feels the way it always has: customers stop by like old friends to tell us about their last fishing or hunting trip, or call the office to share what happened on their latest adventure.
Where We’re Headed
Our goal is simple: protect the quality Rogue Jet is known for and the shop culture that makes this place special. At the same time, we’re bringing more modern techniques into our manufacturing process to make every boat even better. And who knows, there may even be a new model or two down the road.
